About the Center

Russian APEC Study Center is a leading think-tank in Russia for research and policy advice on APEC issues. It was established in September 2011 as a part of The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration to make research and prepare recommendations related to the activity of the Russian Federation in APEC and to support its chairmanship in APEC in 2012.

Russian APEC Study Center is part of an international network of APEC Study Centers throughout the Asia-Pacific. Known as the ASC Consortium, this network meets annually through consortium meetings to raise awareness of challenges faced by APEC economies and the region.

Director of the Center is Tatiana Flegontova. Center’s scientific supervisors are Dr. Natalia Stapran, Professor at the Moscow State University for International Relations. and Dr. Pavel Kadochnikov, Vice-Rector for Research at the Russian Foreign Trade Academy.

Center’s employees are conducting research in their fields of interest, as well as collaborating with relevant Ministries and authorities , research institutions, expert committees and APEC’s committees and working groups.

The main activities of the center include:

  • supporting Russia’s involvement in promoting APEC’s objectives for the integration of economies of the region;
  • being a center of excellence for institutional capacity building in policy areas relating to trade, investment and other APEC issues;
  • analyzing fundamental problems of economic cooperation and trade between Russian Federation and APEC economies;
  • organizing conferences, workshops, regional dialogues, symposia, research and training programs involving regional and international researchers, experts, policy makers, regulators and businesses in support of APEC’s objectives and wider regional interests;
